Rita Asquini received the M.Sc. degree in electronic engineering (cum laude) in 1998 from University of Rome‚ Rome, Italy, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering in 2002 from "Sapienza" University of Rome in Italy. From 1998 to 2000, she worked for Telecom Italia (now TIM) as a Network Engineer on Service Assurance of Communication Networks. Currently, she is Associate Professor in Electronic Engineering with the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications in Sapienza University of Rome, where she has been Assistant Professor from 2008 to 2015 and Research Fellow from 2002 to 2008.
She has been teaching the courses of Applied Electronics, Photonics Microsystems and Optoelectronic Sensors. Her main research interests include modeling, fabrication, and characterization of guided-wave as well as free-space optoelectronic devices with liquid crystals and polymers for biosensor applications. She has been involved in several European Research Projects and she is Leader of the Working Group, New Instrumentation and in the Management Committee of the European COST action European network for the promotion of portable, affordable and simple analytical platforms (PortASAP).
She is author and co-author of more than 140 scientific publications, and co-inventor of a US patent.
